Working with the Germans

Overview

Our briefings are designed for employees working with the Germans.  We thoroughly review the German people and their business culture and provide practical information on their country

Objectives

• Learn about the German heritage, changing national identify, its role in Europe and more recently, the impact of multi-culturalism on the country
• Understand how typical German institutions work, with their hierarchies, planning and administration.  In particular, learn about the German preference for ‘Ordnung’ - prescribed rules, security and a sense of responsibility that create well-being in the office.
• Understand the German view of strong, decisive leadership and deference to people in authority
• Gain an appreciation of the attitude to time and deadlines In Germany and how important it is to be punctual.  The benefit of the session will be shown in a joint approach to team meetings, scheduling future events and meeting deadlines for completion.
• Understand how and when you need to adapt your business behaviour to create a positive impression and avoid giving unintentional offence.
• Gain practical tips to assist you in your next encounter with your German partners.

Additional topics for expatriates may include developing future personal and organisational strategies for adapting to the new environment, the four stages of culture shock and advice on coping for the family.
