Language Courses for Expatriate Partners and Children

In addition to business and general language training, we are skilled in courses for spouses/partners and children.  Training is normally undertaken at the home and for non-working partners can include issues such as:

• setting up home (buying furniture, getting something delivered/repaired etc)
• language for schools, nursery
• using the telephone
• banking
• health (at the doctors, at the chemist etc)
• travelling
• leisure (at the hairdresser, sports club, cinema and theatre etc)
• newspapers & media
• culture of the country

For young learners, we usually build a programme around giving extra language support for school-work and general ‘survival’ skills.  Areas that are covered include:

• school-related topics
• school vocabulary: i.e. registration, break time, assembly, period, exercise book, PE, etc
• help with reading texts
• help with written assignments
• methods of vocabulary learning
• planning of written work using the Web
• social English:
  • Pop culture
  • Fashion/Sport
  • Colloquial language to help to make friends, understand TV and Radio
  • Shopping
